Support Queens Community House
Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.
"I’ve been with QCH’s Pomonok Community Center since kindergarten. After I was done with school, I would come here for their After School Program and do my homework along with other activities. Then I started studying Agriculture at John Bowne High School and I needed a place to do community service hours, so I signed up for the Food Justice Youth Leadership Program.
"I like how you get to show off your leadership skills in the Food Justiceprogram. We show the younger kids in the After School Program how to make healthy meals and we work at growing the Pomonok Community Garden. It gives you a chance to meet new people and learn how to work together on something bigger. You ultimately get to teach each other new things.
"I’ve been here for so long and I’ve enjoyed learning new things. I love a good challenge and being able to help people. Coming here you’ll come out with great experiences and you’ll bond with great people you probably wouldn’t have met otherwise."
