Elmhurst Celebrates Pride By Honoring LGBTQ-Rights Activists | May 14, 2019: City Council Member Daniel Dromm celebrated LGBTQ Pride and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall rebellion with festivities and performances at Queens Center Mall on Monday night.

The event honored former State Sen. Thomas Duane, the first openly HIV-positive and first openly gay man elected to New York public office, Generation Q director Lindsey Duel, and activist and social worker Brian Romero for their contributions to the LGBTQ-rights movement.

Trans Voice Cabaret singer Donnie Cianciotto, dancers Sean Kulsum and Rajeev N. Singh, and singer Anthony Wayne performed.

Dromm, who represents Jackson Heights and Elmhurst, chairs the City Council's LGBT caucus.

"This year's honorees have all done so much to drive our movement forward in their own special and unique ways," he said in a statement. "It was a pleasure to recognize their work publicly."
