Support Queens Community House
Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.
On September 20, more than 100 Aramark associates will volunteer to support Queens Community House (QCH), on Aramark Building Community Day (ABC Day), the company’s global day of service.
Aramark volunteers will revitalize indoor and outdoor program areas at QCH’s Pomonok Community Center, located within NYCHA’s Pomonok Houses in Flushing. Projects will include creating a food pantry, planting a community garden, painting murals, and renovating the center’s lobby.
Around the world, thousands of Aramark associates, including chefs and dieticians, will volunteer at community centers and nonprofit organizations to celebrate Aramark’s year-round community engagement and volunteer efforts.
“At Aramark, our mission is to enrich and nourish lives,” said Frank Kiely, Aramark President, Business Dining. “On ABC Day and throughout the year, thousands of our dedicated associates work with local community centers and nonprofit partners to help strengthen families and build thriving communities through health and wellness programs, much like those being delivered in Pomonok next week.”
“We’re incredibly grateful to Aramark and its dedicated employees for taking the time today to share their expertise with our community on ABC Day,” said Ben Thomases, Executive Director, Queens Community House. “The important health and wellness information being delivered, along with the revitalization projects that will be completed, will be invaluable to the families we serve in Pomonok.”
In addition to delivering on Aramark’s mission, ABC Day supports Aramark’s Healthy for Life® commitment with the American Heart Association, to improve the health of Americans 20 percent by 2020.
Many ABC Day service projects include food discovery experiences that empower Americans to improve their health by making better food and nutrition choices as part of Feed Your Potential 365, a public health and well-being campaign launched by Aramark last year to promote healthy lifestyles among all consumers, as well as families in underserved communities and Aramark’s customers, clients and employees. Queens Community House is one of 10 organizations nationally chosen to participate in Aramark’s Feed Your Potential 365 program.
Since 2008, Aramark has invested millions of dollars in expertise, financial and in-kind resources to strengthen communities through Aramark Building Community.
