NYC Mayor Eric Adams Speaks at Queens Community House Gala at Museum of the Moving Image

On Wednesday, October 18, Queens Community House (QCH), one of the borough's largest social service organizations, hosted its annual Elevating Queens Communities Gala at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, New York.

Close to 250 were in attendance.

This year’s gala raised more than half a million to support QCH programs and services for individuals and families in need, ranging from emergency housing services to meal and pantry programs.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams made an appearance and spoke about the impact of QCH on the borough. "Thank you to Mayor Adams for your kind words about QCH and the work we do for Queens neighbors," said Ben Thomases, QCH Executive Director.

During the event, QCH honored Kevin D. Kim, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Small Business Services, and Goldman Sachs (accepted by Asahi Pompey, Global Head of Corporate Engagement & President of the Goldman Sachs Foundation). Both Kim and Pompey spoke about being children of immigrants and the significance of QCH’s impact on the diverse neighborhoods of Queens.

“Tonight was a celebration of the changemakers who have done so much to support Queens through the years, the borough’s past, present, and future," said Thomases. “From elevating Queens businesses to helping us renovate our Forest Hills Community Center, our honorees have been so instrumental in improving the lives of Queens residents.”
