Meet Your Neighbor: Paul Khahera

“I came to Queens as an immigrant from India in 1972. I currently live in Forest Hills. Almost every morning for over 20 years, I walk to the Forest Hills Older Adult Center to volunteer. Over the years, I’ve helped out in the kitchen, in the office, in the food pantry, any way I can support QCH and the borough. I don’t know – something about this Center inspires me to give back to the community. I feel like I’m a part of something special. I’ve always felt welcome here, especially being around so many people with different backgrounds. I also like to keep myself busy. Aside from having a pacemaker, I have no problems at all with my knees, with walking, talking, and lifting things. I feel great.”

- Paul Khahera, Volunteer at the Forest Hills Older Adult Center

Paul received the Irma Rodriguez Community Builder Award on June 12, 2024 during our annual Celebrating Local Heroes spring event at Forest Hills Stadium!
