Meet Your Neighbor: Michael Perlman

"I’m a 5th generation Forest Hills resident and Chair of Rego-Forest Preservation Council, which takes great pride in documenting the neighborhood’s architectural and cultural history. I’m also the author of “Legendary Locals of Forest Hills and Rego Park” (foreword by Jerry Springer), a book that features local history, landmarks, and the stories and achievements of 210+ notables ranging from celebrities to unsung heroes, including longtime business owners. My current goal is to erect a unique 'Little Free Library' exchange in a public space in Forest Hills to benefit children and families.

I find that it is always timely to volunteer and fulfill good deeds, also known as mitzvahs, beginning with my longtime home in Forest Hills. I feel honored to have received the Local Champion award from QCH, a nonprofit that has played a pivotal role in community affairs for many decades."
