Meet Your Neighbor: Priya Pal

"My first connection to QCH was through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), which gave me an opportunity to gain invaluable job experience. Thanks to SYEP, I learned about QCH’s Neighborhood Intergenerational Chore and Errand (NICE) program. Being a NICE participant, I get to assist older adults with daily tasks such as shopping and mobility. So far, I've gained many valuable skills that I know I can utilize in any future work environment, including patience, attention to detail, and working well with others. As someone who is passionate about understanding other people and helping them, I'm grateful that the NICE program has given me the opportunity to meet new people and build friendships with those I am assisting. It's also aligned with why I love Queens, a borough where everyone seems open to connecting with their neighbors, and everyone is always willing to help each other."
