Meet Your Neighbor: Johanna Katz

“In September, I turned 105 years old. Because of my age, I can’t really go shopping anymore. So for the last five years, maybe even longer than that, I’ve been receiving meal-on-wheels and case management assistance from QCH.

“Every three months, a social worker comes and sees how I’m doing. She checks my medications and asks questions about my well-being. She even helped me get a nurse, so that I wouldn’t be alone all day. It’s nice to feel like someone cares so much about you. The people at QCH are just the nicest people and they really understand what is important to me.

“I tell people that if they have the ability to they should donate to organizations that matter to them, organizations like Queens Community House. Donating isn’t just about giving money; it’s about taking care of people.”
