Queens Community House Older Adults Join Borough-Wide Call for Aging Services Funding

Older adults from Queens Community House’s network of Older Adult Centers joined advocates, providers, and community leaders on March 10 for the 3rd Annual Queens Aging Advocacy Day hosted by Donovan Richards, President of the Borough of Queens. The event, organized by LiveOn NY, brought together older New Yorkers and aging service providers to call for increased investment in programs that support healthy aging and community-based services.

Queens Community House participants gathered with fellow advocates at Queens Borough Hall to urge city leaders to ensure older adults receive their fair share of funding for essential services that help them remain active, connected, and supported in their communities.

Queens Community House operates six Older Adult Centers across Queens, offering culturally rich environments where older adults can connect with peers, enjoy nutritious meals, stay physically active, and explore new interests. The centers provide a wide range of activities—including yoga, Zumba, ballroom dance, tai chi, chair aerobics, and ping pong—along with health education workshops, chronic disease management support, and free health screenings.

Participants also have opportunities to develop new skills through arts, language, and special interest classes, while giving back through volunteer activities. Case assistance is available at each center to help older adults access housing support, benefits enrollment, and other vital resources.

By attending Queens Aging Advocacy Day, Queens Community House older adults joined a borough-wide effort to ensure that New York City continues to invest in the services and programs that allow residents to age with dignity, independence, and community connection.
