Meet Your Neighbor: - Daye Lochansingh

“I resigned from my job in the City because I was feeling unhappy and unfulfilled. In the meantime, I started working part-time in a supermarket and initially said to myself that I would work there until I found something that makes me happy. Five years and counting, I am still working in the supermarket and really enjoy it. I truly find pleasure in helping the elderly customers and chatting with them about their children, grandchildren, and their lives. For this reason, I look forward to getting up each day and going to work. My love for hearing their stories is what led to my interest in the Friendly Visiting program. As a volunteer, I get to do what I love -- listen to and share stories of a fading generation.”
