Support Queens Community House
Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.
Students are loving Queens Community House's (QCH) newest Summer Rising activity: building their very own bicycles that they get to take home! Through this activity, they are learning about engineering and other key STEM knowledge.
“It’s great to see how much the students have enjoyed being hands-on and working as a team to build their BMX bikes,” said Lorraine Hernandez, QCH Multi-Site Supervisor.
This summer, QCH is operating 15 Summer Rising programs (summer camps with academic enrichment) for more than 1,000 elementary and middle school students. This summer, New York City Department of Education committed to fully integrating the strengths of DOE academics with the Department of Youth & Community Development’s (DYCD) school-based enrichment programming. Students in grades K–8 have opportunities to learn and engage with peers and caring adults in safe, supervised, and enriching ways.
