Brooklyn Cyclones manager Edgardo Alfonzo inspires students | by Paula Katinas, September 28, 2018: Brooklyn Cyclones Manager Edgardo Alfonzo encouraged students to hit a home run by giving back to their community during a visit to an after-school program.
Alfonzo, 44, who played second base for the New York Mets for many years and helped get the team into the 2000 World Series, spent a fun-filled afternoon with sixth and seventh graders at the Queens Community House Beacon Program at Junior High School 190 in Forest Hills on Monday.
The former second baseman answered questions, played catch and signed autographs for the kids. “I have been given a great opportunity to do what I love. I’m glad I am able to give back to my community and make people smile. We need that today more than ever,” Alfonzo said.
