Meet Your Neighbor: Carol Ann Caviello

“My sister lived in the Forest Hills Coop for many years. She introduced me to her neighbor and that man became my husband. I took care of them both for many years with the help of QCH and the NORC program. My sister went to the senior center almost every day to have coffee and go to the workshops. My husband and I would come over and join her for lunch there.

“When they both had to go into the nursing home, I needed to find something to do so I decided to volunteer for the NORC program. I run the bake sales, pass out fliers, man the phones, and assist with the parties. I’m counting down the years until I can become a full-time member.

“The people are just so pleasant and everybody gets along. I get to know my neighbors and learn about the different places we all come from. Every neighborhood needs a community center like this – a place where we can come together and help each other.”
