Meet Your Neighbor: Shivani Patel

“I’ve lived in Forest Hills for as long as I can remember, so I was excited to be hired recently as a program aide for QCH's new Friendly Visiting program.

“My favorite thing about Friendly Visiting is I get to make a positive difference in the lives of the volunteers and older adults. The seniors we work with are home-bound and isolated, so having someone to sit and talk with really makes their day. We hope we are creating an inter-generational network of neighbors who care about each other.  

“Generation Q is also a great program, and ever since I started going there I’ve felt happier. I’m discovering myself and who I am without worrying about what other people think. QCH's programs make people like me stronger, and therefore they make our community stronger, too.”
