Meet Your Neighbor: Catherine Mooney

“I don’t get much done when I’m home because I don’t have a schedule. Being here at the Rego Park Older Adult Center, it’s a chance for me to have some structure in my life without the pressure of when I worked 9 to 5. I enjoy helping Elana and the staff keep the Center running smoothly. It keeps me busy and makes me happy. Every day, I record the attendance, make sure the Center stays on schedule with their daily activities and classes, and at times lead some activities myself.

I think this Center brings companionship – you can have lunch with a fellow member, you get to participate in activities with neighbors. There’s no worrying about being depressed when you’re here. There’s always someone here to talk to. You know that when you come here, you’ll never be alone.”
