Meet Your Neighbor: Hyeyun Shin

"While volunteering for the Friendly Visiting program at QCH, I've had the invaluable opportunity to connect with a senior neighbor. Engaging in conversations about our daily lives and delving into various topics, I found it immensely rewarding to establish a meaningful connection with someone from an older generation.

As I see my own parents age, I've come to realize the importance of companionship and human connection in the later stages of life. My weekly phone calls with my mother have become a source of joy for her, and this motivated me to extend similar companionship to others. I believe that small acts of kindness can have far-reaching impacts within a community, often more significant than one realizes.

The Friendly Visiting program has been a gratifying experience for me, and I hope that it encourages others to become part of this wonderful community initiative, fostering connections and combating loneliness among our neighbors."
